Afia Walking Tree taps into our hearts vibrations with riveting, driving beats of her drumz, guitars, vocal chanting, and other ancient instrumentation, realigning us into rejuvenation, awakening, and zest! Afia says, this collection of original drum-songs encourages us to know that the amazon of the drum has returned to save our earth, while healing ourselves and our children, we shall reign with the vibrationz of the drumz as our tools for liberation.
Walking Treešs combination of raw talent, vocal expressiveness, masterful percussive dexterity, and life-affirming movement, allows us to imagine a world where we all freely express our creativity to render violence and oppression obsolete; and claim the drum as our primary vehicle for inter-cultural world healing.
Expect a multi-instrumental activation (djembes, congas, djun djuns, naked gourds, shekeres, bells, berimbaus, guitars, cellos, harps, violin and other instruments) and a fusion of West African, Afra-Cuban, Afra-Brazilian, and Caribbean percussive traditions with hip-hop, R&B, jazz and spoken word, producing Walking Treešs own distinctive world-beat sound. Passionate lyrics inform us about visioning the world we deserve, desire, and require for our empowerment as beacons of change, justice, love, and joy. Walking Treešs patios-tinged voice is soulful and unique, and each song dynamic in form and content. The range of upbeat, danceable pieces has audiences rhythmically spellbound and on their feet at every performance!

- 1 monitor on stage for performer

- 1 small stage table (3 sq ft, about 3 inches high)
- 2-3 hour rehearsal in space prior to performance
